spreading the love: our top 5 favorite "green" products

As you know, we are big believers in bringing only the best products into our lives which is why we are proud to offer paint that truly is healthy.  From the paint itself to the packaging we aim to be "green."  We are not alone in this mission to provide products that are gentle on you and the earth.  There are many companies out there that have similar goals and missions and today I wanted to share with you some of our favorite & innovation green products.

1. Coastal Classic Creations

We all like to look our best, but it isn't worth rubbing harmful chemicals into our skin.  Enter Coastal Classic Creations which makes this deep reddish-brown lip hue from USDA certified organic ingredients.  It also has the lowest hazard rating possible in the Skin Deep Database. Available online at coastalclassiccreations.com.

2.  Tegu Blocks

Tegu is an amazing company committed to fostering child education, employment, local empowerment and the responsible stewardship of natural resources in Honduras.  Not only are these magnetic blocks beautiful and perfect for engaging your little one, they are made from sustainably sourced, eco-friendly Honduran hardwoods and assembled by local craftspeople.  Do not miss out on these great blocks.

3.  Parducci Sustainable Red

After a long day, many like to unwind with a glass of vino.  I've been known to partake from time to time.  Conventionally produced wines can contain up to 250 different types of chemicals, but not Parducci, whose owner says the quality is due to the fact that they take such good care of the land. The vineyard, which has been around since prohibition, has now made sustainability part of its core mission and claims to be the nation's first carbon neutral winery. It's an energy- and water-efficient operation that draws its power from renewable sources and shuns chemical pesticides or fertilizers in favor of predatory insects for pest control, on-site owls for rodent control, homemade compost for fertilizer and other organic and biodynamic growing methods.  (more information here).  How cool is that?

4. Patagonia Synchilla

I love Patagonia.  And I love them even more now with their line of Synchilla outdoor attire like this Synchilla Baby Cardigan.  The Synchilla line, also available in kids, mens and women's sizes, is made of recycled used soda bottles, unusable second quality fabrics worn out garments which are woven into polyester fibers.  Patagonia's long time mission is to create the best product without causing harm.  Available on patagonia.com

5. Vapur

If you know me, you know plastic bottles have been a pet peeve of mine ever since a great friend convinced me of their harm a few years ago while living in San Francisco.  California based Vapur set out in 2009 to make hydration incomparably portable and disposable bottles obsolete. I already love them.  Their unique "bottle", aptly named the Anti-Bottle, is a reusable water bottle designed to stand when full and can be rolled, folded or flattened when empty, making it easy to use and carry on any adventure.  About 87% lighter than typical rigid bottles, the slim, flexible Anti-Bottle only packs water weight. It also uses less energy to make and transport than rigid bottles, so not only is the Anti-Bottle light on your load, its environmental impact is also pretty “lite.”  Check out their full range of "bottles".

There you have it...  what are you some your favorite "green" products??
