jump! (for joy!)
We've been busy painting and re-painting some demo walls for the website - our most recent and perhaps my favorite to date features Quiet Nursery color Jump. Jump is a bright orange. It was mixed specifically to give a special pop to a space, while being careful to stay away from neon.
Folks often stray away from super bright colors in a nursery and while subtle has its time and place, we are also strong believers in the power of bold colors. Our play collection is made up of similarly bright colors - perfect for a play room or fun nursery space.
It is a good strategy to break up a bright wall with some texture. The piece above the crib here is an ornamental frame from Mexico. But you can find things like it all over the place:
1. round rattan wall art from pier one 2. vintage tin tiles from pottery barn 3. circles mirror from pier one 4. weathered wood strands from west elm 5. window mirror from zgallerie
One of our favorite places to "shop" is the local salvage yard. You can find old beautiful window frames, antique barn wood, and other goodies.
We also added pops of other colors to help balance out the orange. We hand-painted finials which we attached to the otherwise plain crib (more on those later!) and we also painted a little ladder in Quiet Nursery's Peep - a bright green. It makes the perfect perch for favorite stuffed animals and books.
the beautiful pillows are susan sargent
With a bright wall like this to spark you imagination, the possibilities are endless.
